Short-Term Picks
The short-horizon companion to Long-Term Picks: the ten strongest momentum stocks plus the ten steadiest cash-parking ETFs, ranked from a year of daily prices. Educational, not investment advice.
How the ranking works
Each candidate is scored from up to a year of daily closes, pulled per symbol from free market feeds (Stooq and Yahoo Finance, whichever answers). The score blends the six-month return (50%), three-month (30%) and one-month (20%), minus a volatility penalty from the last quarter's daily swings: half for stocks, six times for cash, because for money you'll need soon, not losing is the whole assignment. The ten highest scores on each side make the list; mark a pick as invested and the next-ranked candidate takes its place.
The stock side screens the same thirty large caps as Long-Term Picks; that app asks what to hold for retirement, this one asks what has the wind at its back right now. The cash side screens fourteen short-duration taxable ETFs on price returns only, and since nearly all of their real return arrives as monthly income, read that list as a stability ranking rather than a yield ranking.
